Printables – Lunch Box Notes Making School Lunch Fun Again
It seems impossible for me to say this but Ethan is a tween! I don’t know how the time flew so fast between diapers and Minecraft, but it has. And some days, it makes me sad. My little chubby checked bear is now a Dude (insert boys incessantly calling each other duuuuude) Gone are the days of ‘will you hold my hand’ to ‘don’t kiss me in front of my friends’. On days I want to nap however, I’m kind of fine with it. He can play that Minecraft forever without blinking and I snooze it up on the couch like a boss.
There’s also the little changes in his likes and dislikes. Cool clothes and shoes now replace the cutsie stuff I loved seeing him wear. He may only be 10, but you guys, he wears deodorant now! No joke, he wears so much it’s almost cologne. And not in a good way. But, girls don’t like stinky boys he says, so… at least he’s got that covered. I’d like to think it’s all our world travels and exposing him to new foods, but he’s pretty picky about what I pack in his school lunches as well now. No more chips or sugary cookies. He’s all ‘I have to look good and healthy’. Because girls. We now go with some of these options:
Carrots and Hummus dip
Cottage Cheese and Pineapple
Fruitocracy Fruit Pouches
There’s six different flavors (Apple Banana, Apple Mixed Berry, Apple Pineapple, Apple Strawberry, Apple Cherry and Apple) that are in squeezable, funky colored pouches. He gets to pick and choose his favorites each day. So far his top two are Apple Pineapple and the Mixed Berry. Keeps him happy! And I like that they are packed with real fruit you and contain no high fructose corn syrup or refined sugars. Plus they are non-GMO and use all BPA free packaging. It’s a win/win!
Fruitocracy isn’t just perfect for school lunches either! I keep a few in Ethan’s bag for a quick snack in the car on the way to Karate and Cub Scouts. He said his friends are always asking to trade for ‘junky stuff’ but he’s only said yes one time. Lexi. That cute girl. Naturally…. She also likes my lunch box notes. And to be honest, sticking the lunch box notes in with a healthy lunch makes me feel like he’s still my little boy no matter how many candles are on his next birthday cake!
You can find Fruitocracy at most local retailers for your kiddo too.
