Vegas Glam Nail Art Designs Tips and Tutorial Purple Leopard Mani

This was a featured Nail Art Designs tutorial on the Sally Hansen website. Come check out how I created this look!

My last post for Sally Hansen focused on the 2013 Spring Runway Nail Art Designs. {Go check it out, I’ll wait!} I was incredibly honored when they asked me to create a look for them to feature on their website. Looking to Glam it up a bit? Come check out my VEGAS GLAM Purple Leopard mani and see what happens in Vegas doesn’t have to stay in Vegas!

For this tutorial I decided to throw some Vegas Glam into the mix! I’m lucky enough to live and work in Las Vegas. Which is pretty awesome since I get invited to some pretty posh and swanky events. This weekend, I was invited to attend an opening for a new hot spot club. The look I wanted to create had to be a bit flashy but also trendy. Leopard prints are always pretty trendy, especially here in the city that never sleeps! I grabbed my favorite shades of purple from Sally Hansen, some white and black Nail Art Pens and off I went! Don’t worry about making mistakes on this one either! Can you spot mine? No? See! That’s how easy this is going to be! Ready to get your Vegas Glam Nail Art Designs on with me?

Vegas Glam Nail Art Designs Inspiration

My absolute favorite color in the Sally Hansen Line up is I Lilac You. So, I had to grab this and use it as my starting point. It’s a really pretty, soft and true to it’s name color of lilac. You can use it as a starting base coat for literally a ton of awesomesauce looks! It’s pretty enough as a stand alone single color man as well! With Summer coming up, it will be perfect for day to night looks as well as sundresses and beach wear! I say, head out and add it to your color collection for sure!

Vegas Glam Nail Art Designs Supplies

To create my look you’ll need the following:

  • Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Color #370 I Lilac You
  • Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Color #365 Vigorous Violet
  • Sally Hansen Nail Art Pen in Black
  • Sally Hansen Nail Art Pen in White
  • Scotch Tape
  • (Optional – To glam it up, I added some rhinestones I had on hand)

Start by giving all your nails a nice base coat of I Lilac You. Top to bottom, the full length of each nail. Let that dry completely. Since you’re going to place some scotch tape over the top, you don’t want it even a little tacky. Completely dry! Now, grab your tape and place it on a diagonal across the top of each nail. I do 1 hand at a time so I’m not sticking to myself as I’m polishing. Using Vigorous Violet, color the exposed part of your nail. Go on, right over the top of that pretty violet base coat. Leave your tape on until it’s also completely dry. Removing tape from wet or tacky polish can ruin some great nail art designs real quick! Repeat this step with your other hand.

Now I want you to grab those crazy, cool black and white Nail Art Pens! I have these in about 5 different shades. I love them! They have literally changed the way I create nail art designs, but they are such a huge time saver as well! There’s 2 ways you can go about making the leopard designs. My daughter and I disagree on which way works best. I like to make a small white ‘blurb’ and then trace around it with the black pen. She prefers to make a black outline and fill it in with the white. I like to trace around the white better because if my hand shakes a bit, I don’t end up coloring over the black. You go with whichever you feel more comfortable doing. Cover all nails with a clear top coat. And, that’s it! Done! You just completed a super hot, purple leopard French mani! I told you that was easy, peasy! Because I needed some ‘bling’ for my Vegas Glam night out, I went and grabbed some rhinestones and dotted those along the lilac / violet edge. This is also way easier than it sounds! I drop some clear top coat on a paper plate (about the size of a pea) Using a toothpick, I dip into the clear coat, tap a rhinestone to get it to stick to the end and place it where I want. In this design, the whole length across the diagonal. This can be time consuming for sure, but not a single bit difficult at all! As you finish each nail cover again with the clear top coat so they stay in place. My daughter dabs a bit of nail glue on hers before the clear because she’s pretty hard on her hands with her job. Either way, it doesn’t hurt!

After my big Vegas Glam night out, I grabbed myself a cup of coffee the next morning. Vegas is fun, but exhausting! As you can see, nail art designs intact. Still super purple and still all blinged out! Try it! Let me know how you do!

That’s so pretty! Perfect for summer! What did you think about the brush on the Insta-dri? I bought some a while ago but I had a hard time with the size of the brush.

When I come to Vegas, you are totally doing my nails before we hit the town. I want to rock the same print but in Pink and Black because they are my fave colors!

I can’t get over how cute this turned out! I don’t normally get very adventurous with my nails but might have to try this myself.

Ooooh! Probably even I could do this and not mess it up! I love it. I also love that you just happened to have nail gems on hand. True glam star stuff! My daughter will, of course, have to help me, but I am GOING TO GET my nail glam on!
