I don’t know about you, but when the cold weather starts to turn warm I get that itch. You know the kind. The kind that screams run. Run as fast as you can towards the sun and sand. That travel bug may cause the itch, but a weekend getaway stops it! We (ok, I) long for the idea of disappearing to fun in the sun forever. Life, the kiddos, work, husbands… Well, a complete vanishing act is a bit impossible. But a weekend getaway! Now that’s totally doable! Just a short break from it all. Fun In The Sun – No worry, no hurry. Unplug and play! There’s only 2 stoplights, no big city and spotty at best WiFi. You can finally have that excuse to disconnect and enjoy the beachy life! That’s why it’s there! A weekend getaway just to play! Sounds like a slice of heaven, right?
Boats, Kayaks, Water Fun – Living in Vegas, most of our ‘water activity’ is spent in a resort pool. Gulf County boasts 43 miles of natural shoreline. Kicking your shoes off and dipping your toes in takes on a whole new meaning here!
Weekend Getaway Foodie – Harvest time is late April through early May. The 24th Annual Tupelo Honey Festival is held on May 17th on the banks of Lake Alice in Wewahitchka. The foodie in me is loving this!
Enjoy The Wildlife – No, not the kiddos, the real wildlife. The shores of St. Vincent Island hosts a national wildlife refuge, part of a 12,000+ acre protected habitat. My new DSLR would be snapping happy!
Harris The Service Dog Approved – GCFL beaches are consistently ranked in the top 10 US beaches to bring your pets on vacation. Leashed dogs are always welcome on the beach! AND!! Most rental properties allow pets as well! How sweet is that?!
