Twix Caramel & Chocolate Cookie Bars

So, let’s back up to last week when I made those Milky Way Chocolate Brownie Cupcakes…. I may have bought a few bags each of all that awesome bite sized candy, and then I may have had them staring at me saying EAT ME… EAT ME… EAT ME… My mouth was 100% all in for some couch sitting, TV watching (hello, Orange Is The New Black is back on!) and candy popping. My waistline, not so much. So, I took to Pinterest and found Cookie Bars, I can make that!

Twix Cookie Bars Walmart MARS Candy Brownie Cupcakes

Since this is Ethan’s last day of school, I figured I’d kill 2 birds with 1 stone. Use a bag of the candy from Walmart (what??? there was a coupon!)  to make these TWIX Caramel & Chocolate Cookie Bars so it would stop taunting me AND send his class off on Summer vacation all happy! I know, I’m totally cool like that! No box mix cheats this time either! I’m talking real homemade cookie bars and everything! I got all domesticated I suppose… Truth –  Super easy, made the kiddos super happy just like I hoped.  I win the internet today 😉
Here let me show you!

Twix Caramel & Chocolate Cookie Bars Ingredients

Twix Caramel & Chocolate Cookie Bars Recipe

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 Cups Flour
  • 1 Cup Brown Sugar
  • 1/2 Cup White Sugar
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1/2 TSP Salt
  • 1/2 TSP Baking Soda
  • 1 Cup Butter (melted)
  • 2 TSP Vanilla
  • 1 Bag TWIX Bite Sized Candy
  • 1/3 Cup Chocolate Chips

DIRECTIONS:

Let’s start by preheating the oven to *325, then spray (or butter coat) a 9X13 baking pan so nothing sticks! I use spray for these. In a medium bowl sift flour, salt and baking soda together. In a large bowl mix together the butter, and both sugars until well combined. Add in the eggs and vanilla and give that a good mixing. Now, add the dry ingredients (1/2 at a time) and slowly mix on low until combined.  With a spoon, stir in the Twix Bites and chocolate chips. Yes, you can go ahead and take a bite of that cookie dough. I won’t tell!

Pour the dough into your sprayed pan and even it out with a spatula or back of a large spoon. Depending on your oven bake for 30-35 minutes. The top will be all nice and brown, the house will smell all kinds of yummy… I know!! Let the cookie bars cool off prior to cutting. Then, hand some to the kids or hide them for yourself. Your call!

ENJOY!

This is very resourceful. I never thought of using some candy for my baking. There was one time I didn’t have choco chips, but I could have used my caramel-choco candies.
