Starbucks Coffee and Chocolate Muffins AKA How To Impress Old Friends

Now that’s how to start your day, right!! I know! Starbucks Coffee, (mocha coffee!!) some chocolate muffins from the bakery at Walmart… Sweet! And, it all totally happened right here! Here’s how this all went down…

I had a friend coming to town for a short visit whom I haven’t seen in 25 years (no age jokes) Visiting Las Vegas is a pretty big deal and you want your out-of-towners to have a Rock Star time but still feel all homey and welcome, right? So, of course we planned some typical Vegas tourist type stuff like the strip walk, a stop at the Blackjack table (he won $400!)  an awesome show, and some really fantastic fancy, schmancy eating at some fancy, schmancy restaurants. But, it’s also American Chocolate Week. Since I challenged myself to finally make those homemade chocolate covered espresso beans I’ve been dying to do and use those in a recipe, I had to stock up on food and goodies and impress him with my skills in the kitchen! Off to Walmart I went!

Starbucks Coffee Delicious Pairings

Starbucks Coffee and Bakery Chocolate Muffins, What?

We walked in and lookie here! My beloved Starbucks Coffee! And, they have a new Mocha blend that they are pairing with chocolate bakery goods. Well, this makes it super handy for some Rock Star status but still all homey breakfast, now doesn’t it! If I’m not toting around a cup of Starbucks from the coffee shop down the street, I’m brewing it up at home to kick start my mornings (and afternoons) So heck yeah I wanted to try the new Mocha flavor!

And, the Double Chocolate Muffins from the Walmart bakery were a wee bit hard to pass up. Because… Chocolate! Loaded those babies up in the cart as well. We kept making our rounds of the aisles collecting all the goods to impress and some basic staples for filling the fridge and cabinets. Then, they go and surprise me even more!

Starbucks Coffee Delicious Pairings Guru

See that sweet lady over there? She was holding an in-store demo explaining how the new Starbucks Mocha flavored coffee paired well with some of the different chocolate bakery items. She brewed up a pot, and explained how to take a sip of the new mocha flavor, then try it again after a bite of some chocolate goodies and see how the flavors complimented each other. It was a really handy lesson! My chocolate loving husband was more than happy to play taste tester too, with out much arm twisting. Typically, we’re flavored creamer lovers and after following our coffee guru’s instructions and having the flavors mixing and dancing on his taste buds, he decided this new Mocha flavor didn’t even need creamer added.

I had to head back over to the coffee aisle and stock up on a few more bags. Can you believe we snagged the very last one! I’m calling that a lucky Vegas style win! I found the espresso beans I need for my challenge recipe for American Chocolate Week as well and we were set to impress. And, an awesome kick start to our ‘Rock Star Tourist Weekend‘ adventures.

Starbucks Coffee Delicious Pairings

Brewing up that 1st cup of the new Mocha flavored Starbucks Coffee that morning to begin the day, the whole house filled with the A.Maze.Ing aroma I love (and need!) I almost couldn’t wait for it to finish. We pulled out our sweet Double Chocolate Muffins and showed my long lost friend what we learned from the coffee guru on how best have a proper breakfast with these. And ya know what? I could have stopped right there in my efforts to impress! We came off as super heroes from the jump! Coffee… Chocolate…. #DeliciousPairings! And that was even before he tried his hand at Blackjack and won $400! I can’t even begin to tell all you coffee and chocolate lovers just how much you should give this one a go! I guarantee there will be no disappointment. Only happy, dancing taste buds ready to get up and at ’em! Also! If you see a happy coffee guru doing an in-store demo at your local Walmart, stop by and say HI… Let them give you the low down on how this all works!

Stop by later this week to check out my American Chocolate Week challenge recipe and see what I did with those homemade chocolate covered espresso beans! WooHoo… and, YUM!

I wish there was a starbucks close to me, since we live so far away from ANYTHING I wish I could go get a morning coffee and muffin!

I like Starbucks coffee so it would have made my morning even without the muffins. 🙂 I can’t wait to see what you made with the expresso beans.
